I read an article named “Sleep Reinforces Learning: Children’s Brains
Transform Subconsciously Learned Material Into Active Knowledge.” Reading this
article taught me a lot about how young children our age learns by sleeping.
Children need to get their rest a night because studies shown that children
brains transform material into to knowledge that they will eventually use in
the future.
The studies of adults showed that after learning then resting; the
material stores in your long-term memory compartment. While sleeping your
memory is turned into a form, where in the future it makes it easier to learn.
Therefore children need to sleep longer meaning sleeping 8 hours daily,
when they are at school, children should take in as much information as
possible, so when they fall into a deep sleep they can retain the info that was
learned. A test was taken for the age
groups of 8-11 and young adults had to learn to guess the predetermined action
with a good night of sleep or awake. The study showed that the subject memories
were done being tested. The afterwards result was the 8-11 age groups
remembered a bigger number of elements that were taught the day before. Which showed
that the children remembered much more than the adults did.
Overall this article was about children remembering more than adults,
they remembered more info rather than the adults because they had a goodnight
sleep. They basically were trying to say that children could retain more info than
adults store their learning materials in a different compartment.
